Electrical Competency Courses
Our Electrical Competency Courses have been designed for the renewal of your Electrical Practising Licences.
NOTE: The Electrical Competency Course was previously referred to as the Electrical Refresher Course.
Electrical Safety
This refresher training course will remind you on how to manage risks, check for and clear hazards and keep your team and customers safe from harm.
Electrical Testing
If you don’t have testers with you – you can’t be testing, so remember to have test gear with you at all times. If you are not testing you could receive a class 2 fine of up to $10,000.
First Aid & CPR
The Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & First Aid element is presented on our behalf by First Aid New Zealand. The duration of the training is 1½ – 2 hours. You will receive all the latest knowledge, be taught how to use a defibrillator and also be given the latest information that will help you in a real life situation.
Electrical Practitioners Professional Development Support Manual – free to all course attendees
Our Electrical Competency Course will allow you to renew your practising licence, and covers:
- First Aid (Refresher)
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (Refresher)
- Supervision of trainees
- Earthing requirements as listed in AS/NZS 3000:2007
- The purpose, usage and operational testing of residual current devices
- Prospective short circuit currents
- Testing requirements in accordance with AS/NZS 3000:2007 and AS/NZS 3760:2010 & the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010
- Issues of concern to the EWRB
Content may change as required to reflect requirements of training guidelines issued by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).
All registered electrical workers must hold a practising licence to carry out prescribed electrical work and this licence must be renewed every two years.
